The Help is a story that encompasses the trials
and tribulations between the relationship between black domestics and white
families during the civil rights era. Originally a novel written by Katheryn
Stockett, the story was adapted to film in 2011. Audiences fell in love with
the characters and the heart warming story of black women fighting against the
stereotype that they were seen to portray as unintelligent people who were only
good for being nannies, cooking and cleaning for prominent white families. The Help is successful showing that the
black women who spend their lives raising the children of prominent southern
families are truly intelligent women who are fully capable of being seen as
equals.
